With the consent of the Council of Europe, Turkey joined Europe’s associate education practice, the Socrates Project on 24th January 2000.  Therefore Turkey has embraced foreign language teaching procedures which are conducted in Europe.  The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages was created by the Council of Europe Modern Languages Department to develop common standard and common criteria for foreign language teaching programs. Today, foreign language teaching in all European countries is based on this program.

The American Cultural association pre-school organisations provide the language education module practiced in Europe which is approved by the Government of the Republic of Turkey.  This program is referred to as the European Language Portfolio or European Language Passport.  AKD pre-schools are the only organisation to conduct the European Language Portfolio in Turkey.
